Goodbye November, Hello New Office

It’s with heavy but excited hearts that we begin packing up our Gastown office and bracing to move over and up to the 15th floor of 700 West Pender. While admittedly only a few blocks down the road, the move marks the end of a big chapter in the UrbanLogiq company narrative. 9 employees, a bean bag chair, and the early version a traffic intelligence platform moved into 425 Carrall in August of 2017, occupying the cozy (as some put it) space that over the course of the following fourteen months, would be home to a number of milestones. It’s not quite the end of the year, but there’s something about a move to evoke nostalgia. Here’s a few things that happened:

We attended and spoke at some amazing conferences

Including the 2017 Barcelona Smart City World Congress, SCAG Regional Conference and General Assembly, Intelligent Cities Summit in Toronto, National League of Cities in Los Angeles, the Institution of Transportation Engineers Annual Meeting in Texas, and the Data Effect in Vancouver B.C.

UrbanLogiq was selected to participate in the B.C. Stir program

For which we’re working with the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation to modernize land negotiations between First Nations and the Government of British Columbia.

We expanded our client base to the U.S

We began work with the City of San Jose to aggregate and analyze their traffic data, provide predictive analysis on incidents data, and aid transportation planning within the city. (Stay tuned for a full article detailing the use-case).

Economic development and planning are now sophisticated aspects of our platform

Over the past year we’ve had the opportunity to work with the Province of B.C. and the Vancouver Economic Commision, using analytics and geospatial visualization to provide valuable planning insights. As an initiative of their Digital Main Streets project, we worked with the City of Toronto to provide insight into the economic health and well-being of the city’s main streets and business improvement areas. Now, we’re working with Invest in Guelph to provide better localized economic impact analysis for the City of Guelph.

Our Team Grew to 14 People

Giving us the capacity to build out our product and add advanced features, take on more clients, and better serve our fantastic existing ones.

With a strong team and triple the square footage, we’re excited to tackle any growing pains head on and explore what the next chapter at the new HQ has in store.

The move will increase our capacity to better serve our clients, giving us the space we need to scale and grow both our team and product. 700 West Pender is located next to Pacific Centre, near the intersect of West Pender and Granville.

LOCAL TO VANCOUVER?

UrbanLogiq will be hosting an open house early in the new year as a way to celebrate our new space. We see this as an opportunity to invite local talent, clients, and prospects to enjoy this company milestone over food and drinks. Follow us on social and we’ll let you know as soon as we set a date.
